no recent study has found that green tea there is a chemical substance, the polyphenon and, can slow the progression of prostate cancer.

The research, published in the journal American Cancer Prevention Research, has discovered that, thanks to this drug, some bio markers, including prostate specific antigen, vascular endothelial growth factor, and hepatocyte growth factor, normally used to indicate the presence of prostate cancer, were stable or even declining.

The study involved 26 men, aged 41 to 72 years, who had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and who were waiting to do surgery with total excision of the gland.

The patients took four capsules per day containing polyphenon E, the equivalent of about 12 cups of green tea concentrated on average, for an average of 34 days, until the day before surgery.

After the search has shown a significant reduction in the level of markers, which in some patients has reached almost 30%.

Almost nothing has been the side effects, and the work of the liver remained normal.

Thus green tea may play an important role especially in a program to prevent cancer but not only because, in the case of prostate cancer, cancer cells grow slowly, the substances contained in tea may help maintain the growth of tumor at levels that do not have to resort to surgery or radiation treatments, which, although resulting in more than 70% a positive course, can cause some collateral damage, including loss of fertility, impotence el’incontinenza.
